| Abstract: |
Sent from Lhasa in NS 859 (1739 CE), this letter from Kaṃca Purī to Rāya Bhāratī, Balabhadra Purī, and their monastic partners in Patan informs about a consignment of musk pods valued at 8,400 moharas. Purī directs the proceeds to be split equally between Rāya Bhāratī and the partnership of Balabhadra Purī and Jayarāma Bhāratī, while requesting verification of earlier distributions. Noting that road blockades caused by smallpox are set to reopen, he urges the immediate dispatch of corals and topazes due to high market demand along with two monastic couriers, Nārāyaṇa Purī and Śivarāma Bhāratī. He concludes by reporting the theft of a valuable coral garland noticed upon his arrival in Lhasa. |
