It is obvious that the unnamed person upon whom punishment in the form of a fine and imprisonment was imposed was Vāṃṭā Bhoṭe himself, as it was his property that was confiscated in order to obtain the fined amount. The whole issue is not very clear from the document, but it appears that Nīmā Dorje Bhoṭe had filed a lawsuit against Vāṃṭā Bhoṭe, accusing him of claiming to have received a pagarī that in fact had not been awarded, and the Bihī Adālata decided against Bhoṭe and to punish him accordingly. As Bhoṭe was nowhere to be found, the court distrained his property.
