Synopsis

This is a lagata prepared by the Śrī 5 SarkāraGuṭhī Jā̃ca Aḍḍā for the guṭhī serving the Tripurasundarī temple located in Thuṃ Tauthalī in Sindhupalchok district.

Lalītabāhādura and Jītabāhādura both were claiming the right to enjoy the revenue from a plot of land on which four households were living. The plot was measured as requiring 8 pāthīs of maize seeds to cultivate1 . Jītabāhādura had been enjoying the revenue from the plot, just as his ancestors had. His duty was to provide on the new moon day preceding Baḍā Dasaĩ 8 bundles (bhārī2 ) of sāla (Shorea robusta) leaves, 12 sheaves of sāla leaves with petioles, 6 bundles of heart pine, 3 bundles of kurkuma leaves, 11 ash gourds, 2 pāthīs of Sunkoshi River sand, oranges, 22 each of oranges, Citrus junos tanaka, Citrus medica and straw mats made of cogon grass, 6 sheaves of banana leaves. In addition, he had to work in the temple from the first to the ninth day of Dasaĩ. The land was also registered as tālukas of Tārābāhādura and Lalītabāhādura. Lalītabāhādura, a resident of Ṭekaṃpura, Tauthalī, had submitted a petition to authorities claiming his right to the land. Jītabāhādura, a descendant of priest named Judhaṃ, also claimed his right to the land, and as evidence had presented a copy of a lālamohara issued in VS 1859. The lālamohara did not specify the land and its boundaries, but simply told the priest to enjoy the emolument. The Gośvārā of East no. 1 had reported the issue to the prime minister and commander-in-chief, who had ordered that the worship tradition be maintained and the land be recorded as under a rājaguṭhī. Following his order, from the harvest of VS 2005 onwards the tax on the land was set at 5 mohararupaiyā̃s 12 paisās, and the land was managed under a rājaguṭhī. On Friday, the 5th day of Phālguna of VS 2007 a khaḍga nisānātoka had been issued accordingly. With the supporting documents as references, the lagata was prepared by KhardārLalitamān Pradhānāṅga of Asan and Maṃgalbahādur Śreṣṭha of Kilāgal on Wednesday, the 29th day of Phālguna in VS 2008.
