Subbā Nara Jaṅga Gurung issues this receipt on behalf of Commanding General of the Western Front Juddha Śamśera, acknowledging the payment of a contractual amount by Subbā Dhorjye Ḍhuṃḍul of Bihi Village. The document does not clearly say that the payment was made in connection with a lokābhāra lease contract, but it does appear to be such a payment. It is clear, in any event, that Dhorjye Ḍhuṃḍul failed to pay the amount on time and had to pay interest of 10 mohararupaiyā̃s 70 paisās for three months and 10 days. In other documents from the same area, local contractors are asked to pay their lokābhāra lease contract amount in one single instalment in the month of Māgha. This document, however, suggests that Dhorjye Ḍhuṃḍul was supposed to pay the amount in the month of Kārtika. He only managed to deposit the amount into Juddha Śamśera's account on the 10th of Phālguṇa. As he was charged the interest on the amount from the 1st of Mārgaśīrṣa to the day he made the payment, it is clear that he was supposed to clear the sum within the month preceding Mārgaśīrṣa, i.e. Kārtika.
It appears that there is something written, probably in Tibetan, on the back of the document. As there is no separate image of the back of the document, it is unclear what the text refers to.
