This document, a bond executed by Bhimrāja Giri, a resident of Jitpur, records a loan of 46 mohararupaiyās and 2 sukās from Pīra Mahanta Kulamāna Giri of Tacapā Ṭola in Bhaktapur in order to pay for his son's wedding. An interest rate of 10 percent is agreed, and a female slave named Seti pledged as security. The document allows the creditor to take ownership of the slave upon default. Four names as witnesses are listed in the left margin of the document, namely Raghunātha Puri, Nittenārāṃ Nanda Gvala, Vikmāna Mājhi and Moti Giri. The document is dated the 2nd of the dark fortnight of Phalguṇa of the [Vikrama] era year 1950 (?).1
The backside of the document contains two blocks of writings with Bhimrāja's name and his location Jitpur. One of the blocks mentions the borrowed amount, while the other mentions the amount 53 mohararupaiyā̃s, 1 sukā, 1 ānā and 1 paisā. The second number is the new debt amount after Bhimrāja borrowed an additional amount of 6 mohararupaiyā̃s, 2 sukās, 1 ānā and 1 paisā.2
The creditor Mahanta Kulamāna Giri can also be found in documents K_0348_0039, K_0348_0040 and K_0348_0066. In these three documents, which are all later than the current one, he is mentioned as a resident of Sāgācoka, a village in Sindhupalchok District. However, in document K_0348_0041, his location is mentioned as Bāneśvara in Kathmandu.
