Abstract

In this document the prime minister's Mulukī Aḍḍā concurs with a comment of the General Registry Office (Sadara Daphtarakhānā) regarding the appointment of Hīrānātha as mahanta of Śrī Siddha Bhagavantanātha's monastery in Śrīgāũ, Salyan/Dang.

In this [case we come to following decision:] [The proposed course of action] communicated by the General Registry Office (Sadara Daphtarakhānā) is appropriate. Whatever [your] wish [will for us] an order.

Tuesday, the 9th of the bright fortnight of Kārttika in the [Vikrama era] year [19]44 (1887 CE).2 Auspiciousness.


Commentary

From the archival context it can be inferred that what the two subbās of the Mulukī Aḍḍā concur with the Sadara Daphtarakhānā on is the appointment of Hīrānātha as successor of the lateMahantaKhimānātha to the monastic throne of ŚrīSiddhaBhagavantanātha in Śrīgāũ, Salyan/Dang (see K_0469_0042).3 The corresponding mahantyāĩko lālamohara in the name of Hīrānātha was issued by King Pṛthvī Vīra Vikrama in Māgha VS 1944 (see K_0469_0024).

3. The information of the NGMPP catalogue card that the document regards the appointment of Khimānātha is based on the cataloguers' misunderstanding of the report the Sadara Daphtarakhānā's comment refers to (cf. Commentary in K_0097_0038). [⇑]
