Translation
[1r]
On the 3rd of the bright fortnight of Vaiśākha in the [Nepāla era] year 1077 (1957
CE) Āśāmāna Pausā from Sarasvatī Nanī
donated a pair of fly-whisks (cvāmo) to the thrice glorious
Karuṇāmaya. Their weight is 19 tolās 3 lālas.
Commentary
The inscription is engraved on the silver handle of a fly-whisk. During the chariot
procession, a person bearing one of the two fly whisks mentioned in the inscription
is positioned on each side of the front door of the sanctum (Owens 1989, 223). The identical inscription on the second fly-whisk is
edited as NHDP_0001_0172.
