Abstract

An inscription on the bell stand records eleven carved effigies of donors, each accompanied by the donor’s name inscribed below the respective figure.

Synopsis

The names of the eleven donors carved below their effigies on the lintel of the bell are: Parsamunī and Thaku, Kālidāsa and Munithaku, Āsāmadu and Motilāni, Saṃgharatna and Ratnathakuṃ, Ratnacūḍāmaṇi and Ratnathakuṃ, and Dharmaratna.


Commentary

This undated inscription, carved on the bell stand of the large bell at the Kvāḥpāḥcheṃ of Vaṃbāhā, is written in Newari using the Devanāgarī script. Measuring 140 cm in length and 24 cm in width, the lintel features eleven effigies of devotees carved in relief, each with an accompanying name inscribed in a single line below the corresponding figure.
