3 Rānāgāũ placeName a village in Salyana; details: Bhagavantanātha founded his first monastery (maṭha) there. According to Bouillier it is uncertain when the foundatīon took place but it is known that in 1768 he already owned the monastery as he placed there the trophies he had received after the victory of Kirtipur (Bouillier 1991: 155). In 1820 (VS 1877), King Rājendra issued a lālamohara in the name of Rūpanātha confirming Rānāgāũ "in the former realm of the king of Salyan" as mortgaged (bā̃dhā) birtā (see K_0469_0021, cf. the summary of this document in K_0469_0017 [[doc. 13]]). In a document issued in 1907 (VS 1964) it said to be rājabandhakī, that is mortgaged by the king (K_0469_0017). Nowadays the maṭha is deserted (Bouillier 1991: 157, 158). View details
