Apparel of honour.“ (Adhikari 1984: 351 ); "robes of honor conferred on a dependent" (Michael 2012: 132); a ceremonial silk or cotton robe, which is richly adorned and given as a sign of highly respected hounour guests or other persons. They are also considered as gifts awarded in return for service from tributary states.
