var. vādi; n. the 3rd lowest caste (superior to Cyāmes and Poḍhes) among the Untouchables in the Mulukī Ain’s caste hierarchy (MA-54.160.3). The Vādīs used to carry out the profession of singing and dancing at the houses of other caste fellows to make their livelihood.
