n. 1) a caste group living in Terai of Nepal. According to the Mulukī Ain's caste hierarchy the Kalavāras fall under the Water-unacceptable but Touchable caste class, such as, Hindu Dhobī, Kulu, Kasāī, Mleccha etc. (MA-54.156.6).
