n. or adj. inhabitants of the hill areas. In the context of the Mulukī Ain, this is a general term to address the members of all traditionally Nepali-speaking castes originally inhabitated the hill areas of present Nepal. As Whelpton (2005: 264) has pointed out this term was also used in the nineteenth century for the Nepali language.
