Notes
[fr. S. sapiṇḍa] var. sāpiṃḍyā; adj. a kinsman connected by the offering of the funeral oblation to the departed (piṇḍa), i.e. any person of seven generations in direct line of ascent or descent (Turner 1931: 584).
