paisārupaiyā̃

Notes var. paisārūpaiyā; often abbreviated as pairu, pairū, paisāru; n. monetary unit that was distinguished from the mohararupaiyā̃ (based on, rather scarce, silver coins) and that appears "to have been the sole currency in most areas of the Kingdom" (Regmi 1982: 73); usually comprised 64 paisās or 16 ganḍās (see also sohraganḍī), but at some places also equivalent to 20 or 22 ganḍās (Regmi 1982: 73).
