A bintīpatra ---
[Regarding] the following (uprānta): O Lord of the Poor! Since coming to these parts from your entourage (savāri), I have not received any news of -1's- health and welfare (lit. of the health and well-being of -1's- body). When yesterday I learned here in Benares from The Pioneer2 newspaper 2 of the painful news of -1's- health, I became unconscious. If you could kindly write a letter informing about -1's- health, we would be set at ease. Regarding the elder queen's purpose here: through the bintīpatra sent earlier by me, you will have been informed about previous details. (Regarding) current details: the elder queen has [stated the following] wish: “I will certainly go to Nepal, but I have made an oath that I will not go before I have gone to all four dhāmas3 . (However,) even if I do not reach (all) four dhāmas, my offences would be expunged if I am taken to (at least) one dhāma. Whatever is written in the instruction letter from (your) side, I will do. Regarding (other) circumstances: whatever occurs, I will respectfully inform you. If anything happens regarding -1's- health (i.e. if he dies), what shall I do? I will come there to be present (myself) in accordance with your letter of instruction. Please forgive me for any discrepancy in the lines written. What else (is to be said)?
From here auspicious blessings as mentioned in the four Vedas (and sent) by the glorious gurupurohita (and) treasurer Vāmadeva Paṇḍita.
