[royal seal]1॥स्वस्तिश्रीगिरिराजचक्रचुडामणिनरनारायणोत्यादिविविधिविरूदाव[1r]
Hail! [A lālamohara] of him who is shining with manifold rows of eulogy [such as] ’The venerable crest-jewel of the multitude of mountain kings’ and Naranārāyaṇa (an epithet of Kṛṣṇa) etc., high in honour, the venerable supreme king of great kings, the thrice glorious great king, Pṛthvīnārāyaṇa Śāha; the divine king always triumphant in war.
Āge: To Jājūmājā1 of Taumāḍhi Ṭola of Bhātagāva (Bhaktapur), the grand son of Hāku and the son of Bhāgīrāma.
A loyalty fee (salāmī) has been levied on you, as on eighteen thousand (fellow townsmen). Having received 181 rupees through Kahara Basnyāta, we have annulled all claims and lawsuits relating to the levy and are providing you a release document. Similarly, in Patan and Kathmandu we have freed you from whatever [you owe for] houses, fields and loan (lahanā) repayments (tāgādā) [made to you], and are [again] providing you with a release document. Being dutiful, enjoy in a frugal manner (ughāī) whatever houses, fields and loan repayments you hold [as assets].
Wednesday, the 13th of the bright fortnight of Phāguna in the [Vikrama] year 1827 (1771 CE). Residence: Bhātagāva.
This is a lālamohara regarding the levy imposed by Pṛthvīnārāyaṇa Śāha to the citizens of the Kathmandu Valley after conquering it. The citizens had to pay different rates, depending on their wealth. See E_2825_0006 for another lālamohara of similar content.
