May glorious Durgā protect [us].
Glorious Matsyendranātha - 1
41
Hail! A rukkā of thrice venerable Rājarājeśvarī Devī, the principal queen of the venerable king of great kings, [and] ever a fortunate one
Āge: To Rāmānanda Paṇḍita Bā̃ḍā of the city of Patan.
It is learned that when your ancestor Jīvarāja Bā̃ḍā built a golden vimāna and offered it to the chariot of -1- [i.e., glorious Matsyendranātha]2 , he bought 69 ropanīs of plots with his own money3 , joyfully dedicated them to glorious Matsyendranātha, got the Luthāma Guṭha authorized by the government (sarkāra) and offered it [as well to the deity]. It is [also] learnt that Jīvarāja established a guṭha, stating: "Whenever the vimāna is broken, one should repair it using [revenue from] the harvest of the aforementioned plots." Even when [the guṭha] was forcibly taken by others through a mohara [document], you have been repairing [the vimāna] with your own household property until today, considering it as your ancestral duty. No other persons are allowed to claim the guṭha as long as a descendant of Jīvarāja remains. Therefore, given that, having failed to receive [accurate] information, we issued a rukkā to another person,4 [allowing him to assume overseership of the guṭha], [but that we now] understand the details, we today have issued [this] rukkā in accordance with the mohara5 so that no one shall be allowed to seize the guṭha established by Jīvarāja Bā̃ḍā from his descendants. We have granted you [this rukkā] so that no others can claim [the guṭha] as long as a descendant of yours remains. Choose at will tenants to cultivate the plots, be conscientious and enjoy [the surplus fruits].
Thursday, the 6th of the bright fortnight of Āśvina in the [Vikrama] era year 1860 (1803 CE). Auspiciousness. --- 56
The document of which this is a copy is an executive order by Queen Rājarājeśvarī Devī, one of the regents of King Gīrvāṇayuddha Vikrama Śāha. The document reiterates the mohara of Gīrvāṇayuddha (document E_2253_0015C), issued in the previous month, confirming overseership of the Luthāma Guṭhī to Rāmānanda and his descendants. The content of these two royal orders is very similar, except that the one from Gīrvāṇa lists the land plots endowed to the guṭhi.
