Once the petition (arjī) was received, [the queen] issued a rukkā. [Below is] a copy of it.
May glorious Durgā protect [us].
71
Hail! A rukkā of thrice venerable Rājarājeśvarī Devī, the principal queen of the venerable king of great kings, [and] ever a fortunate one
Āge: To the ḍiṭṭhās, dvāryās, vicārīs and pradhānas of Patan.
All the bāḍās of Patan came to complain to us, saying: "'Jīvarāja Bā̃ḍā established the Luthāma Guṭha after offering the luthāma [and] vimāna [to the chariot of Matsyendranātha].2 When the government released the Luthāma Guṭha [from operation under] ijārā [system], we asked whether we should acquire [overseership of the guṭha], [just like] subjects of the three cities [with regard to other such guṭhas].' So said Rāmānanda Bāḍā. Noting that the [Luthāma] Guṭha was [originally] his own great-grand-father's [establishment], he [thus] took possession of the unhusked rice [harvest from the guṭha land] on the authority of mohara, rukkā daskhat and bahālī [documents] from the Maṅgalabhaṭṭa. Bhājudhana Jaisī, too, went to take possession of the unhusked rice, showing mohara and rukkā daskhat [documents]." If you can determine who [between the two] is the descendant of Jīvarāja and who is not, who has lied to us and [deceitfully] took possession [of the harvest], and who is truthful, you should punish3 the deceitful one, make the truthful one warm (niyānu)4 , and hand over to the latter the bāṭās, pāthīs and phosis. If you cannot decide there, confiscate the bāṭā, phosi [etc.] and send them here. We will investigate it at Nhuhalachi and pass judgement, punishing the culprit.
On ...5 day of the bright fortnight of Mārga in the [Vikrama] era year 1860 (1803 CE). Auspiciousness. --- 86
This document is a copy is an executive order of Queen Rājarājeśvarī Devī directing officials with judial powers in Patan—ḍiṭṭhās, dvāryās, vicārīs and pradhānas—to pass judgement on a dispute between Rāmānanda Bā̃ḍā and Bhājudhana Jaisī regarding ownership of the crop yields of the Luthāma Guṭhī. This rukkā was issued in response to a petition submitted by Rāmānanda and other members of the Luthāma Guṭhī.7
