Āge: To the The attending priest of Matsyendranātha (pānijyu).
It is learnt that [overseership of] the Luthāma Guṭhī of glorious Matsyendranātha has, since previous times, been assigned (pajanī, text: paṅjanī) through [the issuance of] a bahālī (text: vāhāla) [document] by the ḍiṭṭhā appointed there. Later Ramānanda had a mohara issued. We [hereby] annul the mohara that he received and declare that the guṭha should be managed according to the traditional custom.
Thursday, the 6th of the bright fortnight of Bhādra in the [Vikrama] era year 1876 (1819 CE).
This copy of a lālamohara is on page 274 of a bound volume containing copies of similar documents. The copy leaves the praśasti out, but from the date it is clear that the issuing authority is King Rājendra Vikrama Śāha. The document, addressing the officiating priest of Matsyendranātha, dismisses Ramānanda's overseership of the Luthāma Guṭhī. We know from earlier lālamoharas that the overseership of the guṭhī was assigned to Ramānanda first in VS 1860 (see document E_2253_0015C) and then, after a break, was restored in VS 1862 (see document K_0341_0034).
The document mentions that the assigning of the overseership of the Luthāma Guṭhī was customarily done through the ḍiṭṭhā who would issue a bahālī document to the assignee. The editor has not come across the corresponding document in this case. It is not clear whether the ḍiṭṭhā was in some way affiliated with the Matsyendranātha Guṭhī or was acting in some external administrative capacity. The document then orders in vague terms that the traditional custom regarding the overseership of the guṭhī be revived. The document, however, does not appoint any new overseer to the Luthāma Guṭhī, and its purpose seems to have been simply to inform the addressee priest that Ramānanda no longer was in charge.
