Synopsis
According to this rukkā, addressing the jogīs of the Bārhapantha,
maṇḍalīBholānātha Jogī complained that the customary payment of
ānāmānā (a revenue used to feed the jogīs?)
by the darāis, kumāles [and] danuvāras of the whole country and the funding of the
patrapūjā (=pātrapūjā?) by the mājhīs of the ghats have been halted. In response to the
complaint it is ordered that the mentioned groups shall properly pay the respective
revenues to the Bārhapantha. The document also warns that he who
holds back on full payment will be considered a rebel (apsariyā).
The document is dated Thursday, the 4th of the bright fortnight of Māgha of the
[Vikrama] era year 1896 (1840 CE).
Commentary
As in another copy (see K_0440_0012) of this rukkā (for the
original, see K_0471_0014) the scribe regularly replaces i by
ī and ū by u, but unlike
the other copy he also frequently employs virāma and uses
repha instead of ra at the ends of words.
Furthermore, the copy contains some other orthographic variants (such as
darahī for daraī). Also note the special way
of writing śubha[m] with śu resembling the
oṃ sign.
The copy is assented to by the abbot (pīrajī) Nārānnātha. It is unknown when the copy was prepared.
For an English translation of the text, a discussion of problematic passages and
terms, and a commentary, see K_0471_0014.
