Abstract

A lālamohara from King Rājendra addressed to Māthavar Singh Thāpā underwrites a land-donation for the establishment of a guṭhī. This lālamohara issued by King Rājendra on Monday of the 3rd of the dark fortnight of Kārttika in the [Vikrama] era year 1891 donates land for the establishment of a guṭhī of the deity Bhagavatī.

Translation

Synopsis

This lālamohara issued by King Rājendra on Monday of the 3rd of the dark fortnight of Kārttika in the [Vikrama] era year 1891 is about the land endowment to the guṭhi of the deity Bhagavatī. As stated in the document, Ujīr Siṃ Thāpā had stablished a temple of Bhagavatī in Pālapā and requested to the king for the establishment of a guṭhi for it and King had established the first Guṭhi endowing land in Pālāpā Māḍi in VS 1878. Later, in 1881, when Māthavar Siṃ Thāpā'selder brother Ujīr Siṃ Thāpā had passed away and his wife was burnt at the funeral altar, the second plot of land which is located in Tānasiṃ Prabhāsa was endowed. This document further mentions that the following people were involved during the process when the borders of the endowed lands was fixed: Gaṇapati Paṃtha, Modanātha Arjyāla, Gokula Khanāla, Vaṃsarāja Paṃtha, Hastavira Rānā, Kamalāpati Vicāri, Siddhinārāyena Khatāci, Cāmu Jaisi, Jasyā Kārki, Naṃdyā Kavara, Hemadatta Basnyāta, Dambar Desuvā, Dharmāgata Ghimiryā, Harinārāyena Kāphalyā, Jodhana Thāpā, Phanai Pādhyā, Dagola Vilavanta, Dhirja Nekusiṃ, Mādhau Bhaṭṭarāi, Mitrai Adhikāri, Sivadatta Pauḍyāla, Kiśnānanda Vasāla, Cāmu Jaisi, Garuḍamiti Regamī, Devamani Nepala, Hemadatta Vasnyāta, Nandasiṃ Kuvara, Harṣamani Gharti, Naravira Rāvala, Narindra Thāpā, Jasu Kārki, Haricaraṇa Vicāri, Tejanarasiṃ Caudhari, Sādhurāma Pradhāna and Dhaṃdyā Kuhmāla.
