Notes | also known as: Bhavānibhakta Siṃ Khatrī, Bhawani Singh Khatri (?);
flourished: 1832;
gender: male;
details:
held the title of lephṭena (1832, DNA_0002_0016);
remarks:
A person called Bhawani Singh Khatri is attested in the secondary literature. Vaidya and Manandhar 1985: 149 refer to a letter on judicial a matter from Bhīmasena Thāpā to a certain Lieutenant Bhawani Singh Khatri dated 1830. Whelpton 1991: 181 n.53 reports of a sardāra Bhawani Singh as one of the aides of Māthavara Siṃ Thāpa in 1844. Whelpton 1991: 136 further mentions that this Bhawanī Singh Khatri fled to India together with Abhimāna Siṃ Basnyāt in 1845. He was killed shortly after the Kot Massacre of 1846 (Whelpton 1991: 163). However, it cannot be determined with certainty that both persons are the same;
probably Bhavānibhakta Khatṛ is still another person.
