their affair started while he was appointed as a bodyguard of King Rājendra and she was a caregiver at the royal palace;
when King Rājendra and his two queens were sent to Varanasi after the Bhaṇḍārakhāla massacre in 1846, Jaṅga Bahādura Rāṇā took permission from King Surendra to make Putalī Rānī his concubine; she was brought toThāpāthalī Palace and there addressed as Putalī Rānī;
later her title was upgraded to Mahārānī (Bhandari VS 2068: 132-133). #checked# |
